Digital Elevation Model
Please note: At this time we do not have a complete set of DEMs for the entire United States, however, our contact within the USGS is currently doing an extensive search for those files that are missing.
Are you wanting DEM files for a route that you're building?
We should be able to help you out. Almost all of our DEM files are 10 meter DEMs. Most sites will only offer 30 meter DEMs. If you'd like to see the difference between 10 meter and 30 meter DEMs, look at this image.
Here's what you need to do to receive DEM files from us...
Down below you will find buttons with the names of the lower 48 States on them. Clicking on a button will initiate the downloading of a State map that will have a grid showing the names of each section. You should be able to make a list of sections that you need for your route. Once you've done this, email us your list. Don't forget to tell us the name of the State(s).
Once we receive your email, we will process your request as fast as possible.
A word to the wise... Please don't think that you can use this service just to build your own private library. These files are here for route builders only. Realize that this library contains over 90GB of files and our available bandwidth simply won't allow people to download more than what a person needs for their route. We will log which files we've sent to you and if it's determined that you're just trying to soak up DEM files, you'll be banned from any further downloads. We keep a "master" map of files that have been sent and trying to use more than one email address won't succeed. We are trying to help those of you who are building routes... so please don't abuse what has taken us hundreds of hours to create.
